Year of Dragon

Metal

Cherished moment
the hour is one of midnite
I again climb your mist covered shroud
but tonite
all is clear
to me at every vantage point
North Star's luminosity is setting
the sky in motion
And I breathe again
the deep smile of
eucalyptus, cypress, and redwood arms
enfold overhead
Single travelers
dip low in glistening sand pools
receive the wave as it crests
light the deep expanse of my  longing...

Now it is twilight -
will that I climb the
stairway of your enchantment
or choose to linger -
It is the precision of the dance
that you request
all go on repeating, that I must
kindle and nurture and grow attuned
to take special notice
at the turning of the sphere -
sunglobe disappears in water's line
the wood is placed in
the four directions
a fire is lit
as your winds
circle
the ring of fire...

I close my eyes
I am rising
Pastoral
precedes the Dawn,
crescent moon,
single star,
Always your back is strong -
you perch out beyond the coastline
of what is known
and beckon for listeners...
Countless clouds collect me -
but when I look,
I ride only one
on my journey back
like flower petals from
the orchards you have planted
too numerous to count
like all the moments of devotion offered
all the obstacles that I learn
to befriend -
nothing
takes the treasure house away.

This rare collection
you save for me
for the moment
when I take the ride
on a Dragon streaming thru open sky
to drink the pearl
in
everhiding
morning
ocean
rising.
